Thomas Schlegl

Dr. Thomas Schlegl studied Physics at the University of Regensburg, Germany, and the University of Montpellier II, France. After that, he received his Ph.D. in Physics from Regensburg University in 2005. Starting from 2005, he was the Head of Strategic Planning at Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE and Managing Director of Fraunhofer Energy Alliance. In 2010-2014 Thomas Schlegl was a Member of the Sustainability Board of the City of Freiburg. Since 2018 he is the Head of Department Energy System Analysis at Fraunhofer ISE.

His research focus is:

·      Techno-Economic Assessments of Energy Technologies;

·      Market Analysis;

·      Trend Analysis of Technological Developments;

·      Assessment of Resource Requirements for Energy Technologies;

·      Resource Assessment for the Energy System Transformation;

·      National and Regional Energy System Assessments;

·      Development of Education and Training Modules[RI1]
