Prof. Dr. Stefan Glunz has received an Eni Award for promoting science and technology in the renewable energies field and the Becquerel Prize for Outstanding Merits in Photovoltaics.

Prof. Dr. Stefan Glunz has received his Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Freiburg in 1995. Since then, he has been working in Fraunhofer ISE, where he headed the group High-efficiency Silicon Solar Cells and later the department Silicon Solar Cells – Development and Characterization. In 2015 he became a professor at the Department of Sustainable Systems Engineering of the University of Freiburg. Prof. Dr. Stefan Glunz has received an Eni Award for promoting science and technology in the renewable energies field and the Becquerel Prize for Outstanding Merits in Photovoltaics. He is the author/co-author of more than 100 journal and 250 conference papers and the founding editor of the IEEE Journal of Photovoltaics. His research focuses on design and fabrication of high-efficiency silicon solar cells; Analysis of loss mechanisms in solar cells and silicon material; Characterization of fundamental semiconductor parameters as Auger recombination in silicon; Development of novel solar cell concepts such as silicon-based tandem solar cells.
