Doctoral candidate at FAU specializing in Energy Economics and Energy Markets

Anas Abuzayed holds a Master of Science in Energy Economics and Energy Finance from Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU), Germany. He is currently a doctoral candidate at FAU specializing in Energy Economics and Energy Markets. His research focuses on flexibility options for a successful cost-optimal energy transition and the development of energy system optimization models, including MyPyPSA-Ger, an open-source myopic optimization model representing the German electricity system with high spatial and temporal detail.

He is also a visiting researcher at the University of Cambridge, UK, enhancing his expertise in energy market design and flexibility solutions. He has experience working on hydrogen-ready power plants and power plant flexibility, contributing to international academic conferences such as the IAEE International Annual Conference. His work supports the design and analysis of future energy systems for decarbonization.
